Step 3 - How RF is Made
Finally I have a finished b/w drawing. That image is then scanned into the computer. For those who care, I use a new translucent blue Macintosh G3 with a 20 inch monitor. The bonus of using this computer is that, in a pinch, I can put a light behind it and use it for a light table.

I now have a digital line drawing in Photoshop, my preferred image editing program. I touch the cartoon up if it needs it and then save it as a high resolution b/w TIFF file that I use for providing people with cartoons for bulletins, newsletters and the like. (b/w prints much better)

Once saved, I lower the resolution to screen resolution (72 dpi) and change it to a RGB Color image and start filling the solid areas with web-safe colors. Web-safe colors look best on everyone's browsers. Sometimes I use some more advanced techniques but it is usually easier than using crayons. When I finish coloring the cartoon I convert it to a GIF file and save it.

That is how Reverend Fun cartoons are made.
